A Timeless Kitchen for a Colonial Revival in Queenstown

In the heart of Lake Hayes, Queenstown, surrounded by mature alpine trees and timeless landscape, a beautifully restored colonial-style home has been given new life. Working in alignment with Naylor Love’s construction team and architect Murray Benett, Nasko Factory had the pleasure of designing and manufacturing a bespoke kitchen that speaks to the architecture’s old-world charm while bringing forth a new language of modernity.

It was created for a family who had a particular appetite for such aesthetic interpretations—one that adheres to the codes of balance, symmetry, tradition and all the while upholding strong values for thoughtful design and exquisite craftsmanship. The finished kitchen embodies that vision to the highest standard. Cooking in it feels calming and settling in the light-filled space, comfortable and timeless.

The cabinetry was crafted from pre-finished VidaSpace “Pure Walnut” veneer, bringing warmth and richness to the room. The natural grain adds depth, tone and texture, reinforcing the home’s elegant character and setting the stage for the striking Montalini quartzite benchtops that was handpicked by the clients. The veining of the Montalini anchors the space in a beautiful calm and captivates those with an eye for detail with a classic double bullnose edge—an edge that is seamlessly book-matched to perfection. Such impeccable fine detailing references traditional stonework craftsmanship often found in heritage homes in Europe and speaks of pure artistry and quiet luxury.

Projects like this are a reminder that great kitchens are not just about cabinetry or layout. They are about understanding the architecture, the landscape, and the people who will live and work in the space every day.  For Nasko Factory, it was a privilege to contribute to the transformation of such a special Queenstown home—one where heritage and contemporary living now sit beautifully side by side.
